My friend Brooke and I have been planning a club for domestic goddesses for a few months now, and decided to stop by our local fabric store in lakeland called Fabric Warehouse. They have monthly classes and activites and social dates. Last night, we attended a get-together and saw some amazing fabrics - my dream fabrics. Those of you who think sewing is for grannies should stop by the store and see what's really going on.
In our country's hard economic situation, I expect a lot more people to get back to basics. Why pay $300 for an outfit when you can make something that's one-of-a-kind? I know what you're thinking - sewing is hard, and I have no idea how to do it. Well, you're right. But it's no harder than learning to drive a car - and look how that turned out. As a matter of fact, I just learned how to knit last week by watching a youtube video!
To inspire you further, just stop by your local fabric store on a weekend and see what's going on there. Most offer classes that will fit your busy schedule, and if you purchase a sewing machine, they usually give you a few classes for free to get you familiar with sewing.
